Mizuno Australia has today announced the release of a special edition shoe – Project Zero Wave Rider Waveknit. The release of this shoe falls in line with Mizuno’s newest campaign: Project Zero #RunForResearch in partnership with The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in Australia. This campaign acknowledges the inspirational stories and dedicated researchers in an effort to raise funds to support the NBCF’s uncompromising goal of Zero deaths to breast cancer by 2030.

ABOUT BREAST CANCER

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the country, over 19,000 Australians are diagnosed each year and approximately 8 women still die from breast cancer every day. This number has improved since the NBCF started funding research in 1994 with the five-year breast cancer survival rate improving from 76% to 91%. 96% of patients will be alive five years after diagnosis; if the cancer spreads to the regional lymph nodes, five-year relative survival drops to 80%. Over 200,000 women are living with breast cancer in Australia. World-class research is the only way to stop women and men dying from breast cancer. By gaining a better understanding of how breast cancer tumours originate, grow and spread this goes a long way in enabling researchers to discover more ways to treat and prevent more deaths.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION

The NBCF was established in 1994 and is the only national body that funds life-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public and corporate partnerships. Research is the only way to improve how breast cancer is diagnosed, managed and treated. By funding only world-class research, NBCF is working towards a goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. NBCF research has helped develop better therapies, greater understanding of possible ways to stop the spread of breast cancer to other areas, and improved quality of life for patients and their families. Since 1994 they have awarded more than $181 million to 557 Australian-based research projects to improve the health and well-being of those affected by breast cancer.

MIZUNO’S #PROJECTZERO #RUNFORRESEARCH CAMPAIGN

This October in collaboration with the NBCF Mizuno will help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research through #ProjectZero, a campaign that was launched with the goal to achieve zero breast cancer deaths by 2030. A focus for driving this awareness will be by encouraging members of the Mizuno community to #RunForReasearch.

Mizuno’s Head of Sales & Marketing , Shane Holub says “We are really proud to partner with the NBCF for this first time in Australia and believe there are great synergies between our brand and the research into the benefits of exercise that NBCF are driving alongside leading experts. What the NBCF have been able to achieve since their inception, the impact they have had on the community and the lives they have been able to save is nothing short of phenomenal and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to do our bit in helping them achieve their goal of zero deaths by 2030.”

The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s CEO, Professor Sarah Hosking was equally as excited “At the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) we are working towards our goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. As NBCF is entirely community funded, corporate partnerships like our one with Mizuno, is key to us reaching this goal. We are so proud that Mizuno is aligned to NBCF’s mission and that they reflect and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Together, we can stop deaths from breast cancer.”

The campaign will kick off in the coming days so be on the lookout for Mizuno’s social media channels as pink takes over.
